Last weekend, on Sunday, September 26, a clean-up event was held in Baška under the slogan “Baška – clean, blue, and green”. The goal of this event was to clean the sea and the coast of this lovely place, and to our joy, a large number of participants joined – about 40 divers, children, and volunteers, residents and fans of Baška.

The event itself was organized with our contribution and was carried out by TZO Baška in cooperation with the County Port Authority of Krk, the company Ponikve Eco island Krk, numerous island associations, brod Baška, the local school, photographer Luka Tabako, local taxi boats and boat owners, and of course numerous diving clubs.

Divers diligently took out waste from the sea, and then were rewarded with a dive on the famous attractive location Tunnel on the island Prvić, where we were taken by the boat Baška. The kids had a special task and cleaned the beach on Prvić and then participated in educational workshops organized by Žmergo and Ponikve, who, in addition to providing waste containers, presented their projects and educational content.

Well-known photographer Luka Tabako took a millennial photo, and after that, all participants enjoyed a great lunch provided by the crew of the aforementioned boat.

As for the diving part of the event, which was in our domain, we are very pleased with what has been achieved. About 40 divers from KPA Karlovac, KPA Geronimo, KPA Adria, Ruby rent and diving center Squatina collected a full container of waste, mostly plastic and glass bottles, various waste carried by the wind from boats, but also tires, tables, chairs, etc.

We are stoked that we removed all that trash from the underwater of Baška, because it certainly doesn’t belong there. The locals helped us a lot with their boats. After the successful clean-up, we had to relax a bit, so we took the boat Baška to Prvić and enjoyed a beautiful dive in a fantastic location. I was glad to hear that everyone enjoyed this event!

We are very proud to be a part of the organization of this event, and I would especially like to thank Ivana and Lea from TZO Baška and Dario from the Port Authority, who liked our ideas and put them into practice. Of course, I must also thank all the divers who participated, as well as the locals and taxi boat owners who jumped in, Captain Dražen and the crew from MB Baška, kids from Baška school, numerous associations, the company Ponikve Eco island Krk and all others who contributed in one way or another. We hope that next year we will have the opportunity to participate in the organization again, and that the event will be even better and richer each year ?
